US Ambassador to the UN: US Ready to Support Gaza Resolution

United States Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said a resolution regarding Gaza that the US could support had been drafted at the UN Security Council.

"We have that resolution now. We are ready to vote on that resolution," Thomas-Greenfield said.

"And this is a resolution that will provide humanitarian assistance to those in need," he said.

UN Secretary General António Guterres said Gaza faced a "humanitarian catastrophe" and the complete collapse of the humanitarian support system would lead to "a complete breakdown of public order and increased pressure for mass displacement to Egypt."

According to a report released Thursday by 23 UN agencies and a number of humanitarian agencies, all of Gaza's 2.2 million residents are in food crisis or worse, and 576,600 are at "catastrophic" level of hunger. With supplies cut off to Gaza, the UN World Food Program (WFP) said 90% of Gaza's population routinely had to go without food for an entire day.
